Chairman : Claude Comtois, Professor of geography, Université de Montréal, Canada.
Research : Transport systems with an emphasis on shipping and ports.  He is also working on marine policy, intermodal transport and environmental issues.  He currently supervises a project on sustainable port and inland waterways.

Past president : Brian Slack, Distinguished emeritus professor of geography, Concordia University, Canada.
Research: Marine and intermodal transport. He is a recognized expert on the relationship between traffic and infrastructures.  He has worked on several port and intermodal projects .in Canada.  He has a solid experience on marine and rail transport in Europe, East Asia and Australia.

Secretary: Stefano Soriani, Professor of Geography, University of Venice, Italy. 
Research: Management issues and problems of harmonisation between environmental concerns and commercial/industrial development in coastal cities.

Research: Research interests: focus on building capacity in coastal management at the local level through training and education; links between coastal research and policy; end user requirements for coastal applications; and partnerships/public participation in coastal management.

Research: His interests lie in marine resources and environmental issues.  He also has interests in the role of museums in furthering knowledge about the marine environment.

Research: maritime boundary delimitation, transboundary resource management; boundary conflict resolution and technical aspects of law of the sea

Joeli Veitayaki, Coordinator, Marine Affairs Programme, University of the South Pacific, Suva, Fiji.
Research: Utilisation of marine resources and their management, particularly coastal fisheries and their sustainable development.

Juan Suarez de Vivero, Professor and Head of the Department of Human Geography, University of Seville, Spain.
Research: Coastal and ocean management, including the conflicts from the exploitation of marine resources and the tools of regulation.

Wang Ying, Professor of Coastal Ocean Science, Nanjing University, China.
Research: Study of land-sea interactions, in a multidisciplinary way that combines dynamic geomorphology and sedimentation together with research on genetic formation, particularly on the coast and continental shelf.
